A Mobile Gym for Tim McGraw? You Bet.
Recently, Jamison wrapped up a unique gig as Activation Manager for Tim McGraw's arena tour, where he handled everything for a 53-foot mobile gym built into a trailer. Why a mobile gym? "Tim is super dedicated to fitness," Jamison explains. "He wanted a full workout facility wherever the tour went. So, we have a trailer that expands, has a sauna, a full HVAC system, and all kinds of workout gear. It’s like a gym on wheels."
From Brand Ambassador to Road Warrior
Jamison didn’t start his career thinking he’d be in experiential marketing. With a degree in criminal justice, he initially aimed to become a police officer. But a chance gig in 2012 as a brand ambassador at a Spartan Race opened his eyes to a new career. "I just thought it’d be a quick way to make some money," he says, "but I ended up falling in love with the work."
From there, he dove into managing tours across the U.S., activating events in 45 of the largest 50 cities and working with some of the biggest brands around. "I was living in hotels, driving across the country, and getting paid to see the world," Jamison shares. "It was the best decision I ever made."
The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Driver
But life on the road isn’t all glamorous. "It can get pretty lonely," Jamison admits. "You spend a lot of time away from friends and family. Staying active and having a routine helps." For Jamison, that means hitting the gym daily and finding time for a little self-care. "You need to keep your head in the game."
What’s Next? SEC Football and More Adventures
Jamison’s latest gig has him managing the Southwest Airlines sponsorship with the SEC, setting up branded activations at college football games. "I’ve never been to an SEC game, so this is going to be a whole new experience," he laughs. "It’s exciting to dive into something new."
Keep Moving, Keep Learning
For Jamison, this career path has been a wild ride. From truck driver to tour manager, he’s found a way to blend his love of travel, people, and big events into a job that’s constantly evolving. "If you get a chance to try something new, take it," he advises. "You never know where it might lead."
